Conservationists have blocked logging in the Cumberland River headwaters near Lorne, one of the last refugees for the endangered spot-tailed quoll in the Otways. After blockading the site for five days with the support of Lorne business people and Wye River residents, the conservationists said yesterday that forest officials had given a verbal commitment that the catchment would be safe for the rest of the season.
