I wonder when the dunderheads who rule us will wake up and realise that if you cut down native forests and replace them with pine, you will alter forever the ecology of this fragile land. And when the flora and fauna that sustain our country are extinct, and we resemble Ethiopia, which was also once lush and green, of what use will money be?

It's fascinating to see the conservation movement whining; about funding cuts. At the '96 election they gave their support to the coalition, saying there was no difference between them and Labor. I guess they can see the difference now.
