131 A terrible irony

Ruth Singer, Northcote, The Age (Your Say), 12/9/98

The tallest flowering plants in the world, the magnificent mountain ash, subjected to the indignity of height limits so they won’t go through the roof of a building (The Age, 9/9).  How absurd when the real thing, the grand forests of the north-east of Melbourne, are being felled and pulped for paper under contracts that last until 2030.
