30. SEARCH AND DESTROY?

So Government biologists have to "mutiny" and write to The Age to have their voices heard (9/6)? What does this tell us about the so-called "consultation" in the Regional Forest (Dis)Agreement?

The State Government sent 20 police to break through the six month Goolengook forest blockade on Monday. Why? To allow bulldozers and log trucks to ford a heritage river and clearfell forest that should have been preserved, according to the only people who studied it.

It's also the only new area of tiger quoll habitat identified in East Gippsland, despite extensive surveys. What use is threatened species legislation if an animal listed as being "in imminent danger of extinction" is no sooner identified than logged out of its territory?
