Robert Doyle is a slow learner of the first order, as he demonstrates when he insists on trying to cast the Australian Greens as some single-issue party (Opinion, 8/4).
He and his fellow Liberals need to ask themselves why in Liberal heartland seats like Kew and Hawthorn at last year's state election, Greens candidates polled nearly 20 per cent of the vote. The reason is simple: a growing number of people - from both Liberal and Labor backgrounds - are discovering that the Greens are more in touch with community aspirations for a more caring, just and environmentally friendly world.
I suggest that Mr Doyle get a copy of the Greens' policies and dispel his ignorance about the Greens being focused on a few issues.
