Any forestry expert would tell Andrew Bolt that clearfell logging and the subsequent regeneration do not reduce the risk of fire ("Greens gone mad", February 3).

Once logging operations are completed, many tracks are closed or become overgrown. You'd be lucky to bash through on foot, let alone by vehicle.

Prescribed burns are conducted around towns and property when resources and climatic conditions allow.

The forest type most resistant to fire is undisturbed and damp old growth.

An official inquiry will generate sensible debate and the best solutions for living with our volatile eucalyptus forests.

Bolt should apologise to the "earth worshippers" who are also CFA members and many other greenies who have fought for their homes and suffered the terror with their neighbours.
