A dangerous political move

The Bracks Government's breaking of the Goolengook forest blockade was ill-advised. It is now open slather for logging in this precious and irreplaceable forest. Pandering to vested interest groups, which are actually losing jobs due to woochipping, appears to be the motive for this.

However, I think the government has underestimated opposition in the community to this destruction of our forest and water catchments. The huge increase in the Greens' vote during the federal election should send a clear signal.

With the regional forest agreements now discredited, we need a royal commission on the violence, thuggery, deception, mismanagement and disinformation around our forests. We need to know why the government is supporting an industry that is destroying our forests, subsidised by taxpayers, putting rural people out of work and producing an extremely low-value product.
