Despite the obvious shortage of water supplies, the State Government is placing our precious water resources underthreat from clearfell logging in the catchment area of Melbourne's water, the central highlands.

The negative impact of logging on water catchments and ecosystems is massive. Logging alone reduces the amount of water by up to 50 per cent because  regeneration forests use more water in their fast-growing phase. Water qualify is also threatened as sediment drains into streams  It is important that we improve our water conservation in the home and industry - but equally vital that we stop clearfelling of our catchment areas.
