The State Government has suspended logging in the Otways State Forest Chancio coupe for today. The move follows clashes between protestors and police yesterday, in which up to ten people were arrested.

The Environment Minister, Cheryl Garbutt, said the suspension was necessary to ensure public safety.
She called on protestors to suggest alternative sources of Mountain Ash that can be logged.

"This is not a victory. this is inthe interests of public safety, and of reducing tension between protestors and police."  "Logging is only suspended for today in this particular coupe."
